Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) published at the URL https://www.wissenschaft-weltoffen.de/de/.

As a public sector body within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, we are committed to making our websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (BGG) and the Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0), which implement Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is currently not fully accessible:

  • Interactive section (/de/interaktiv/): The filter components and dynamic graphics used here are based on third-party libraries. Due to system-related limitations, there are errors in the focus order (WCAG 2.4.3) and form labels (WCAG 4.1.2), as well as deficiencies in keyboard accessibility (WCAG 2.1.1). A resolution is planned as part of future architecture updates.
  • Data tables and downloads (/de/daten/ and /de/interaktiv/): The provided Excel files serve as an alternative information format to the interactive tools and static illustrations (graphic downloads) on the page. These files are structurally formatted; however, due to system constraints, they do not yet consistently meet all technical criteria for fully accessible documents (WCAG 1.3.1).
  • Alternative means of access: As neither a search function nor a sitemap is currently offered, there is only one navigational path available for finding subpages (WCAG 2.4.5).
  • PDF documents: Older PDF files and forms are not yet consistently made available in an accessible format. We are committed to providing new PDF files in an accessible format in the future.
  • Easy Read and Sign Language: Information in Easy Read language (Leichte Sprache) and explanations in German Sign Language are not currently provided.

Date of creation and last update
