Major flows of international student mobility in 2023

According to UNESCO, around 7.3 million students were enrolled outside their home countries in 2023.

The top ten flows of international student mobility are from China to the US with 272,541 students, from India to the US with 223,117 students, from China to the United Kingdom with 174,724 students, from India to the United Kingdom with 171,871 students, from India to Canada with 137, 850 students, from China to Australia with 110,220 students, from India to Australia with 91,595 students, from China to Japan with 90,448 students, from Nigeria to the United Kingdom with 71,756 students, and from China to Canada with 70,440 students.

Large flows to Germany come from India with 42,937 students, China with 37,655 students, Austria with 18,027 students, Turkey with 16,585 students, and Syria with 15,737 students. From Germany, student mobility flows to Austria with 38,178 students and to the Netherlands with 23,420 students.
